What Is Operation Marshmallow?

Operation Marshmallow was inspired by an article in the New Yorker which claimed that a study of children found those able to resist the temptation to eat a single marshmallow for the promise of a second treat were more successful in life than those who simply ate the one.

Following that reading, I decided in the summer of 2009 to apply those principles to my own diet and exercise.  This blog will track my effort over the next six months to finish my program and reduce my weight to what it was in high school.

This page will track my weekly progress, while this one will track my daily caloric intake. My goal is to consume no more than 1500 calories per day when I do not have serious exercise and no more than 1800 when I do.
